Position

This individual provides professional procurement skills to significant areas of influence and impact to business systems development.  Areas covered include PC/LAN/Workstations, operations, facilities, services contracts and administrative support areas ensuring that customer objectives are met. There is a high volume of activity with large contracts and responsibility for vendor quality and delivery.

The buyer assists user in development of Statement of Work or requirements and coordinates the development of qualifications and evaluation criteria for solicitations. Plans negotiation strategy and leads negotiations covering all aspects of the contract with the selected source in accordance with objectives. Perform cost and price analysis, negotiate contracts and work on special projects. Draft and release complex bids and proposals and be able to proactively drive through agreements against demanding timescales.

Interacts closely with the IT department, suppliers and others to resolve issues and produce timely deliveries. Documents and manages requisitions, POs and contracts from award to completion. Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with IT purchasing. Broad knowledge of supplier market place.
  • Experience with consultant contracts, maintenance contracts, hardware and software negotiations.
  • Clear understanding of IT definitions, technologies and department dynamics.
  • Ability to work across functional lines and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external.
  • Knowledgeable user of large database systems.  SAP (preferred), I-Spring (Fusion Opts), etc.

Planner Responsibilities:
A Planner is responsible for the establishment and execution of the Master Schedule Plan, and for scheduling the activities of the Pilot Plant in clinical manufacturing. Both schedules are highly complex, and dynamic. The candidate will be required to understand the biotech manufacturing processes within a GMP environment. This requirement is, in order for the candidate to have the ability of anticipating bottlenecks and obstacles to the execution of the schedules. This individual will also be required to negotiate across a diverse cross-functional workforce to resolve issues that adversely affect the schedules.
• Establishes and plans production schedule for the manufacture of clinical trial and intermediate materials.
• Tracks and provides reports, to support teams, on progress of the schedule.
• Release and maintain process orders to support production schedule at manufacturing site, including reschedules, and notification to support groups of order status.
• Creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials in ERP system (SAP) to support site production schedule.
• Creation of part numbers in accordance with site procedures.
• Monitors inventories to support schedule. Reports on materials / components affecting schedule.
• Generate Purchasing Requisitions in support of manufacturing site, monitor and report on progress of request.
• Work with Materials Management team on resolution of key issues which affect schedule compliance.
• Participate in multi-function team meetings to achieve process improvement goals.
• Proficient in meeting management, publishing agenda, minutes and action item tracking.
• Measure, and report on, Planning team metrics.

Senior Planner Responsibilities:
A Senior Planner has the Planner responsibilities as stated, as well as, additional responsibilities as stated below.
• Identify process deficiencies, perform Root Cause Analysis, and provide corrective action plans for process improvement. Also requires the ability to convey the analysis in a manner that will be understood by the cross-functional support team(s).
• Lead projects that will support the site goals and/ or objectives. These projects may include cross-functional team members, as well as, Materials Management personnel.
• Provide long term planning schedule, including Rough Cut Capacity Planning.
• The Senior Planner will act a mentor for less experienced planners, and materials management personnel. Including training, and guidance, of team members, to achieve site objectives.

Experience: Planner:
Minimum 3 – 5 years experience as a manufacturing production planner or in a supply chain support positions in a GMP controlled environment, preferably in a development or start-up company.
Senior Planner:
Minimum 5 years experience as a manufacturing production planner or in a supply chain support positions in a GMP controlled environment, preferably in a development or start-up company.

Special Skills/Abilities:
Proficient in Word, Excel.
SAP experience is a plus.

Apple - Materials Program Manager (Cupertino, CA)

JOB MISSION

The Materials Program Manager (MPM) is responsible for materials execution within a product’s supply chain from sustaining through

end of production phases of a product’s lifecycle. This position reports directly to a WW Materials Manager.  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

The Materials Program Manager will assure the availability and clearance of all constraining materials tied to factory production build plans,

planning MPS, and end of production demand considerations.    The MPM attends NPI post mortems to improve knowledge of CM or transition issues.

The MPM will monitor contract  manufacturing shortages and excesses while balancing global supply and worldwide demand.

The MPM will drive the request/commit process between CMs and Apple Suppliers by providing front line escalation to Apple’s Global Supply Management (GSM) team.  

As required, the MPM will provide direction or negotiate freight options as they relate to production timing (to me urgent revenue deadlines). 

The MPM will support the end of life planning process by analyzing, assessing, and reporting materials risks, exposures, and opportunities

to management and finance. In addition, they are responsible for driving the elimination of excess inventory through redistribution to other programs, rework for reuse, or recommend for scrap.

 

TASKS CRITICAL TO POSITION: 

I. CM (OEM) Procurement Audits:

Audits the CM’s compliance of all planning and procurement processes; performs a quarterly audit to be carried out at the factory; 

provides an assessment of team competence and training programs;  verifies purchase order coverage of Apple’s MPS; verifies factory to planning ties (yields are considered in CM’s requirements plan MRP). 

 

II. Clear-To-Build Management & Reporting:

Reviews and monitors the CM’s materials commitment tied to both the Build Plans and the current MPS; Highlights critical path materials

in a cascading level of importance to meet schedule; Articulates issues and concerns through high level summaries, but can support with key details; presents this data to  Apple management and executives.

 

III. Materials Escalation Management:

Engage in supply escalations to ensure that any supplier or process related gaps are addressed with the CM; play an active part in driving

rootcause and corrective action; acts as point of contact (POC) to CMs and ensures Apple’s GSM engagement on issues between CM

 and sub-tier suppliers (CM owns driving and leading any multi party meeting). 

 

IV. Excess & Obsolete Management & Reporting:

MPM will provide forward looking risk and opportunity analysis to simulate materials exposures and cost of incremental demand

(add backs); reviews and monitors excess and obsolete being reported by factories;  Takes, directs, or records specific actions to

 mitigate risks; provide management summaries and is prepared to present to management and/or executives accordingly; drive

 process for final disposition of product (redistribute, reuse rework, or scrap); coordinates across functions. 

 

V. Compile CM Materials & Procurement Scorecard:

Provides feedback to the Business Operations team as it relates to CM operational procurement performance.  

Makes both subjective and objective constructive feedback to be used in the Supplier Quarterly Business Review Meeting; may be required to present or be available for a working session with CM. 

 

VI. Product Disposition Support (part change implementation):

Work with product operations to coordinate key actions pertaining to the execution of part changes with the CM site or Supplier (GSM).

 

VI. Mentor/Coach CM (Apple Specific Programs/Processes):

Make sure that factories are familiar with Apple specific processes and programs; provide necessary training (if required); responsible for CM readiness for new initiatives or process roll-outs.
